Abstract

From a female grave (grave 209) in the cemetery of Rain am Lech comes a pair of strap-ends in pressed plate with representations of warriors and animal style. The grave was heavily disturbed by Early Medieval grave-reopening; the remaining objects allow a dating of the grave to the first half to the middle of the 7th century. The focus of the paper are the strap-ends with the figurative depictions. They are discussed in the light of comparable finds and ideas on the meaning of the motif will be considered.
