Abstract

Tools and Small Finds of the Antiquity from Bourbousson at Crest (dép. Drôme / F)

Excavations at the site Bourbousson in the parish of Crest brought to light a long though partly interrupted occupation between the period Ha D3 and Medieval times located at the crossing of various roads. Approximately at the end of the 2nd century a building was constructed close to the road (either a farmstead or a hostel). A second building was used during the 4th and 5th century for trade and industry; however, it only showed at the edge of the excavation. Each chronological phase offers a range of – in some cases – even spectacular metal objects. Their analysis and reappraisal contributes to the discussion of the settlement’s function (trade, but primarily of all agriculture and industry).
