Abstract

A Grave with a Silver Inlaid Spur from Pinneberg-Ratsberg (Kr. Pinneberg) from the Transition to the Later Roman Iron Age. An Example of Elite Traffic between Southern Scandinavia, Schleswig-Holstein and the Danubian Region

A cremation grave in Pinneberg-Ratsberg (Kr. Pinneberg, Schleswig-Holstein) uncovered in 1983 contained gravegoods of personal equipment, tools and weapons. The male grave dates to the transition phase of the Earlier to Later Roman Iron Age (phase B2/C1a) and, thus, to the time of the Marcomannic Wars. A silver inlaid spur preserved in the grave assemblage proves the contemporarily existing contacts of the Elbe Germanic elites in the area between southern Scandinavia and the Danubian region.
