HeLix - Dossiers zur romanischen Literaturwissenschaft

About the Journal

All Romance Languages

HeLix is a journal that combines research on literature and culture in Romance Studies. HeLix provides a forum for critical exchange on the study of literature and culture in French, Spanish, Latin American, Portuguese, Italian, and Romanian. Articles are published in German, English and all Romance languages.

Dossiers

By publishing thematic dossiers, we focus on important current research topics in the field. These dossier issues include collections of scholarly essays, as well as comprehensive introductions and bibliographies that reflect the state of the art of research in Romance Studies.

Publication Formats

HeLix publishes articles, essays, reviews, interviews, and literary translations with philological commentary. Each volume focuses on the subject of the respective thematic dossier. In addition, we also accept submissions not related to the dossier themes.

Current State of Research

HeLix intends to be more than an online version of a print journal. Our goal is to show the dynamics of cutting-edge research trends in Romance Studies. Helix publishes at least one issue a year. This way, we are able to immediately respond to relevant academic, societal, political, and cultural developments.

Internationality and Networking

Thanks to its academic advisory board, editors, and authors, the HeLix journal is already integrated in a broad international research network.

Visibility

HeLix is listed in German national journal databases and the Electronic Journals Library (EZB) to make sure that contributions reach a wide audience. All HeLix articles are added to the catalogue for libraries of the University of Heidelberg (HEIDI). This way, all HeLix contributions are automatically also listed in the Karlsruhe Virtual Catalog and in the Bielefeld Academic Search Engine (BASE). The persistent identifier DOI ensures that all articles can be found long term.

Double-Blind Peer Review and Editorial Support

HeLix articles will be double blind-refereed before a decision is made to publish. Each article submission will be examined by external reviewers. The anonymous expert review and constructive feedback is designed to enhance the quality of each submission. In addition, each submission will be carefully revised by the editors and the editorial team assisting the author during the editing process.

Online and Print Media

In cooperation with Winter Verlag, the renowned university publishing house, the series HeLix im Winter. Ausgewählte Beiträge zur romanischen Literaturwissenschaft was inaugurated in 2011. Exceptional articles are regularly published as stand-alone hard copies.

Our collaboration with the University Library Heidelberg enables us to publish every dossier as a printed version in addition to the online version. The print titles (softcover or hardcover editions) are published with their own ISBN and regularly marketed in the publishing industry.
