Abstract

The article represents the conclusion of the author‘s investigations into the Limes in Dacia and its neighbouring provinces. In its historical evaluation, therefore, it is not only restricted to a representation of the development of the Limes in Pannonia inferior and the troops stationed from the 1st to 4th century, but considers in particular the close military connection between Pannonia inferior, Dacia superior, Dacia Porolissensis and Moesia superior during the warring struggles of the Romans with the Dacians and Sarmatians. As in previous studies the paper contains an extensive, richly illustrated catalogue, in which all Lower Pannonian forts are described together with their topographical situations, construction periods and evidence of military units serving there.
