Abstract

Hats made from punch-decorated birch bark are quite rarely found on archaeological excavations. In spite of its fragmentary and heavily deformed state of preservation, the original form, manufacturing technique and specifically the decoration of the hat could be reconstructed and experimentally confirmed. The birch hat was conserved and presented to a large number of museum visitors.
