Abstract
The correspondence which took root in preparations for the VIII. Prehistorical and Anthropological Congress of 1876 in Budapest presents us with an important and thus far unexploited source. The letters or reports which were sent to Flóris Rómer in Budapest include important information about finds and sites. Among these are the letters from László Kisfalvi, vicar of Kaisersteinbruch / A, in which he also informed about the discovery of graves from the area of Sommerein and about their grave goods. Part of the latter made it to the National Museum, albeit without reference to their precise origin. The brooch with a diamond-shaped base belongs to the group of fibulae of the Wiesbaden type. A small silver fibula has only one similar counterpart among surface finds of Köln »Heumarkt«. In grave III, a silver armring with ribbed endings was found. The burials and grave goods of Sommerein suggest that the deceased enjoyed close contact with Alemanni.
