Abstract

Due to canal works in 1962 in front of and on private grounds in Haßloch (part of Rüsselsheim), an inhumation grave was accidentaly cut, which however was not excavated and documented professionally. The landowners retrieved a knife fragment with bone handle and a two-part mould made of slate that had lain on the chest of the skeleton. The mould was used to produce crosses with widened ends, rings with three-part pendants and pelta-shaped pendants with three spherical ends of tin and / or lead. Studies on the typological development of cast motives and the end of grave furnishing in the region suggest a late 7th century date for the grave.
