Abstract

In the Germany of the 1930s the archaeologist Otto Eugen Mayer was forced into the role of an outsider for ideological reasons. After his emigration into Belgium he tried successfully to position himself as specialized scientist in relation to local non-professional networks. After his death attempts are to be recognized to dispute his mental inheritance partially.
