Abstract

Due to an agrarian way of life querns played an important role respective to the preparation of food. There are different capacities of querns detectable. First, querns were used to grind grain. In addition querns were found as deposits and as grave goods during the neoltihic. Concerning the manufacture of these artefacts some production steps were traceable. The procurement of raw material was assured by each settlement itself.
