Abstract

The NFDI4Objects consortium is dedicated to the research data management of material heritage spanning approximately 2.6 million years of human and environmental history. This paper introduces the central services of Task Area 2, „Collecting“, and Task Area 4, „Protecting“, which focus on improving and supporting the handling of digital data related to collections and the protection and pre servation of cultural heritage. TA2 concentrates on digitising, enriching, and qualifying object data following the FAIR principles. TA4 focuses on connecting heterogeneous data from various heritage offices, research institutions, and universities while promoting stan dardised conservation and restoration measures documentation. The paper outlines the approaches and tools developed in both Task Areas and demonstrates how they contribute to the digital recording, interlinking, and sustainable reuse of research data. Emphasis is placed on Open Science principles to ensure broad availability and interoperability of the services provided.
