Abstract

Archaeological museums suffer from loosing their position within our society. Archaeologist sometimes do not even know themselves the importance of our subject for the society. This is manifested for example by the vanishing will of financing these institutes. But reconstructions of prehistoric lives is infl uenced by political and moral ideas of modern societies. Archaeological open air-museums are best examples of this thesis. The interaction of an acceptance within the society and the self-confi dence of our subject will be discussed.
