Abstract
In German archaeobotany quantitative methods are not as widely used as in Great Britain, USA, Scandinavia or Switzerland. This state-of-the-art article summarises and evaluates the quantitative approaches used in German macroremain- and pollen analysis. It is based on an inquiry a m o n g colleagues and the literature. Considering the specific structure of archaeobotanical data different methods of quantitative analysis are introduced, with special regard to indices and multivariate statistics.
