Abstract

The first settlement site of the Corded Ware Culture in Alsace was discovered 20 years ago. The fi rst aim of this thesis was to work on the two settlements of the Corded Ware culture known so far in Alsace. Furthermore, one important point was to analyse the late Neolithic and geographical context around these sites, a study which had to be researched across national borders. Finally, after a short survey of the usual locations of settlement sites of the Corded Ware culture, the author compared them with the locations of Eguisheim and Burnhaupt-le-Bas and the other settlements of this culture in the southern upper Rhine valley.
