Abstract

In the discussed article Christoph Huth refers to the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS), a program established both in England and Wales. The program wants to support the active participation of the public in the archaeological care and preservation of ancient monuments. It is aimed at private metal detectorists who should report their finds and provide thus artefacts to archaeological research and heritage management. In its main features it seems to correspond to the model used in Schleswig (‘Schleswig-Model’), which follows in the tradition of cooperative interaction with the collector. This approach based on cooperation reaches a series of positive effects, verifying the efficiency of this model.
