Abstract

This contribution tries to reconstruct the settlement development of the Linear Bandceramic in Kujawia and to analyse the settlement structure there. A selection of 21 sites from various parts and periods of the Linear Bandceramic in Kurawia could be dated by statistical analysis of the pottery styles. The dating provides the basis for a model for enunciating sustainable theses on the settlement development of the Linear Bandceramic: In summary, the region of Kujawia was thinly populated already in the period of the Oldest  Linear Bandceramic, the middle Linear Bandceramic sees the begin of an dense settlement with the number of settlement sites not growing anymore in later periods. This is followed by an analysis of the settlement features from various levels of settlement – from the macro-region to the single sites – with the result that settlement structures of the Linear Bandceramic do not vary much from region to region.
