Abstract

Research into social identities with their interdependencies and power structures is one of the most topical, and at the same time most important tasks facing scholars of Archaeology and Ancient History today. This was the subject of a doctoral thesis completed in January 2012 which addressed the topic in an analysis of the situation on the Middle Rhine-Moselle region during the Iron Age. This contribution outlines the structure and some of the results of the work, ranging from the formation of theoretical terminology to the effects of Romanisation on changes in identity.
