The old broken pear-shaped rattle is made of a bright clay and has two drill-holes. The interpretation of the use of such rattlles is varied. The use as a musical instrument also as children’s toys, for cultic actions and as a rattle for leprosy patients are to take into consideration. The exact origin of the piece in unknown. Due to a hand-written note the rattle must have come in the possession of the Lippische Landesmuseum in the period from 1935 till the end of Word War II in 1945.
