Abstract
The Dachverband Archäologischer Studierendenvertretungen (DASV e.V.) initiated this comprehensive survey of 186 prehistoric archaeology students from 16 different universities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The results show that about half of the respondents are satisfied with their curriculum, with good preparation for the working world, high didactic quality and the ability of the curriculum (or its implementation) to meet the standard period of study, being particularly important for students. Students would like to deal in more detail with a broad range of topics, which is too comprehensive for an overall integration into the curriculum. Many students therefore take more courses than planned out of self-interest and do not complete their studies in the standard period of study. As a solution, in addition to a meaningful compulsory curriculum, the offer of free modules with a focus on competences is called for. Overall, the study provides important insights into student perspectives on the prehistoric archaeology curriculum and offers meaningful suggestions for improving the
programme. In addition, the results can serve as a sound basis for further discussions and reforms.
