Der Gründungsprozess von CIfA Deutschland als Berufsverband – Anlass, Hintergründe und Zukunftsvision

Abstract

In Summer 2017 the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists offered to support German archaeologists to build an area group inside of CIfA by providing its knowledge and set of rules. It also offered to pay a German archaeologist to fill the post of a coordinator to start CIfA Deutschland. CIfA as a professional association is defined by its code of conduct and its accreditation system for individuals and organizations and thereby provides a framework, not only for its members but also for society (politicians, investors, cultural offices, potential employers etc.), to define archaeological ethical and technical right behavior. Since summer 2017 CIfA Deutschland is working on making the system of CIfA available for German archaeologists. This article describes what defines CIfA as professional association, how the system of CIfA works and which benefits German archaeology – but also individual German archaeologist – gets from being part of CIfA.
