Citations in Pollux’ Onomasticon: Annotation, Visualization, Interpretation

Abstract

In this paper we study the usage of citations in Pollux’s Onomasticon, using distant reading methods. We measure the number, the exactitude and the distribution of citations in each of the 10 books of the work. Our measures are based on an annotated digital edition, especially prepared for this purpose.
