Heidelberg University Library offers researchers at Heidelberg University the opportunity to publish e-journals free of charge in open access. The researchers act as editors. The University Library provides the well-established Open Journal Systems (OJS) software for this purpose. It supports the creation of new journals, ensures the sustainability of the published content and ensures the greatest possible visibility. An additional print-on-demand issue usually incurs costs (€300 + VAT per issue). The offer is aimed at academic staff at Heidelberg University.
We also offer similar opportunities for researchers worldwide via Heidelberg University Publishing (heiUP) and for the Specialized Information Services (FID) in the fields of Art and Visual Studies (arthistoricum.net), Classical Studies (Propylaeum) and Asian Studies (HASP).

Das 'DWI-Jahrbuch' (seit 2009 der neue Name des DWI-Infos) berichtet im zweijährigen Rhythmus über die Arbeit am Diakoniewissenschaftlichen Institut.
Hier schreiben – seit 1978 – Studierende, Dozierende, Ehemalige, Freundinnen und Freunde des DWI für alle Interessierten aus dem Bereich Diakonie und Kirche.
Seit 2013 (Band 43) wird das DWI-Jahrbuch ausschließlich digital herausgegeben, um so einem möglichst breiten Publikum zur Verfügung zu stehen. -

Until April 30, 2013, it was published under the roof of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). As from May 01, 2013, it is published under the roof of Heidelberg University.

Forum Marsilius-Kolleg [2012–]
Das Forum Marsilius-Kolleg ist ein Online-Journal in dem in loser Abfolge unterschiedliche wissenschaftliche Beiträge - Artikel, Essays, Kommentare, Sammelbände - veröffentlicht werden, die im Rahmen des Marsilius-Kollegs entstanden sind. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei der Brückenschlag zwischen den großen Wissenschaftskulturen, insbesondere zwischen den Natur- und Lebenswissenschaften einerseits und den Geistes-, Kultur-, Rechts- und Sozialwissenschaften andererseits. Alle Beiträge schlagen entweder selbst diese interdisziplinäre Brücke oder sind in besonderem Maße interdisziplinär anschlussfähig.

Francia [1973–]
»Francia. Forschungen zur westeuropäischen Geschichte« is published annually in a print edition of up to 500 pages in length. In addition, a digital version has been available since 2012 (volume 39). German, French, and English are the official languages of publication. Trilingual abstracts are included for each essay. In a peer review process, an international peer review panel selects contributions for publication. Since volume 35 (2008), reviews have been published online in four issues of »Francia-Recensio« each year, and are also available on the review platform recensio.net.
Older volumes of the »Francia« journal, which date back to 1973, are retrospectively digitized with a moving wall of one year. They are also freely available on perspectivia.net. For further information on the history of the journal, please click here.

Francia-Recensio [2017–]
Das digitale Rezensionsjournal »Francia-Recensio«, herausgegeben vom Deutschen Historischen Institut Paris, erscheint pro Jahr in vier Ausgaben. Besprochen werden – in deutscher, französischer oder englischer Sprache – Werke zur westeuropäischen Geschichte.
Die Auswahl der Bücher, der Rezensentinnen und Rezensenten sowie die redaktionelle Betreuung der Texte erfolgen durch den für die jeweilige Epoche zuständigen Redakteur. Um ihrer Mittlerfunktion gerecht zu werden, bemüht sich die Redaktion jeweils um Besprechungen in einer anderen Sprache als der des rezensierten Werks.

HCIAS Working Papers on Ibero-America [2022–]
HCIAS Working Papers publishes peer-reviewed works from different perspectives and research fields of the humanities and social sciences that present the findings of ongoing research on Ibero-America. HCIAS Working Papers aims to bring attention to new theoretical and methodological perspectives and stimulating scientific dialog on issues of particular concern to the societies composing the Ibero-American macro-region within a global polycentric framework. HCIAS Working Papers contributions are evaluated by external reviewers to guarantee the quality of the publication and, above all, its capacity to contribute to international academic discussion. Being that these works are still in progress, the HCIAS Working Papers manuscripts may be further elaborated upon and published in other journals. HCIAS Working Papers on Ibero-America is an open-access publication series edited by the Heidelberg Center for Ibero-American-Studies and hosted by heiJOURNALS of Heidelberg University Library.
Submissions
HCIAS Working Papers invites scholars from the humanities and social sciences to submit their findings from ongoing disciplinary and interdisciplinary research on issues that are of particular relevance to the Ibero-American macroregion and its societies. Contributions may be submitted at any time. Please make sure to comply with the requirements for submission and to adhere to the author guidelines.

Heidelberg Ethnology [2015]
Heidelberg Ethnology is a peer-reviewed Occasional Paper Series devoted to the publication of new and innovative research in socio-cultural anthropology. Its guiding purpose is to stimulate critical dialogue that brings to bear the findings of nuanced empirical study on issues of wider theoretical import. Papers in the Series address themes both traditional and contemporary, from ritual, economy and kinship to media, gender and politics. In addition to conventional monographs the Series also welcomes submissions in other formats, including multimedia presentations, conference proceedings, research data and related materials of wider ethnological significance. In line with the interests of its institutional home, the regional emphasis of the Series is on Southern Asia and Oceania. However, the Editorial Board actively seeks outstanding contributions from those working in other parts of Asia and the Pacific region, Africa, Europe, Australia and the Americas. With the aim of reaching as wide an audience as possible, the Series publishes papers on a rolling basis in an open-access electronic format in collaboration with the Universitätsbibliothek Heidelberg. Papers may be submitted for publication in either English or German.
The journal was completed in 2017.

Die Heidelberger Beiträge zum Finanz- und Steuerrecht stellen eine eigene Schriftenreihe des Instituts für Finanz- und Steuerrecht der Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg dar. Die Reihe erscheint zeitgleich in einer Druckversion sowie in einer frei zugänglichen Online-Ausgabe. Inhaltlich bildet sie den gesamten Forschungsbereich des Instituts ab. Die Bände widmen sich Fragen des in- und ausländischen Steuerrechts, des Internationalen und Europäischen Steuerrechts, des Finanzverfassungsrechts, des Haushaltsrechts sowie des kommunalen Finanzrechts. Autor:innen der Beiträge sind neben den am Institut tätigen Wissenschaftler:innen auch dem Institut verbundene Jurist:innen sowie Expert:innen verwandter Fachbereiche.

Heidelberger Brief - Mitteilungen zur Iranistik [2015–2016]
Heidelberger Brief - Mitteilungen zur Iranistik war eine wissenschaftliche Zeitschrift für Iranistik. Ihr Zweck lag in der Verbreitung wissenschaftlicher Fachkenntnis in Bezug auf unterschiedliche historische und zeitgenössische Aspekte der Sprache, Geschichte, Geographie, Ethnologie, Literatur, Kunst und Kultur des iranischen Kulturraums. Sie ermöglichte und förderte die Diskussion zwischen WissenschaftlerInnen und Interessierten dieses Gebietes.
Im Fokus der Heidelberger Brief - Mitteilungen zur Iranistik standen:
- neue Forschungen auf dem Gebiet der Alt- und Neuiranistik.
- Themen und Debatten mit Bezug auf Iran, Afghanistan und Tadschikistan als persophone Zentren hinsichtlich ihrer kulturellen Angelegenheiten.
- interdisziplinäre Themen innerhalb der Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften.
- die Weiterentwicklung fachrelevanter Methoden und Theorien.
- der akademische Austausch zwischen internationalen Wissenschaftlern, insbesondere zwischen den Persisch- und Deutschsprachigen.
Die Zeitschrift wurde in deutscher und persischer Sprache publiziert.

HINT. Heidelberg Inspirations for Innovative Teaching [2020–]
The online journal HINT – Heidelberg Inspirations for Innovative Teaching, a publication of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Heidelberg University, provides a space for researchers to participate in the international discourse on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning by inviting them to present research about their own teaching. Contributions by faculty and higher education specialists from within Germany and abroad compliment the best practice examples from Heidelberg. These writings, which reflect on teaching and learning from a scholarly perspective, contribute to the professionalization of higher education faculty and support the ongoing exchange of ideas within scientific communities and specific disciplines. The journal is intended to serve as a platform, forum, and inspiration for all who teach in higher education.

InterCultural Philosophy [2018–]
InterCultural Philosophy (ICP) ist ein open-access, peer-reviewed, online journal, das zwei Mal im Jahr veröffentlicht wird und sich an ein breit interessiertes Publikum wendet - unabhängig von kulturellen oder philosophischen Grenzen.
ICP versteht Philosophie nicht als eine einzelne akademische Disziplin oder intellektuelle Domäne mit klaren Grenzen, sondern vielmehr richtet sich ICP an grundsätzlich Interessierte.
ICP beschränkt sich nicht auf ein 'Allerweltsverständnis' von Philosophie. Sämtliche Philosophien der Welt, die Vielfalt philosophischer Ansätze wird eingeladen, Beiträge in ICP einzureichen. Damit gibt InterCultural Philosophy Philosophierenden und Wissenschaftler*innen anderer Disziplinen, deren Arbeit philosophische Themen berühren ein Forum des Dialogs.
ICP richtet sich an Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen, als auch an etablierte Wissenschaftler*innen, die ein Interesse an inhaltlichen Debatten pflegen. -
