Abstract
The following article tries to exemplify how a certain way of referring to art, situated in so called interior peripheries, may become a paradigm of an understanding of contemporary art which is sensitive to its special location and moreover ethnologically inspired. For that reason it focuses on artworks - by Joseph Beuys, Jenny Holzer and further artists - which are to be found in the green surroundings of a somehow inconspicuous, somehow exposed city in the heart of Germany.
